| Major Attractions
Orlando, the theme park capital of the world, is best known for
its major attractions - Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom,
Epcot, Disney-MGM Studios and Animal Kingdom; Universal’s
Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure; and Sea World’s
aquatic entertainment.
Other attractions
Besides the major attractions, there is so much more in the Orlando/Kissimmee
area to spark the imagination.
Just a short distance from the hustle and bustle of
Orlando's attractions, several destinations offer back-to-nature
experiences and small town charm. Travel to tiny, charming towns
like Mount Dora and Bartow for antiques and other treasures. Mount
Dora has often been called the "antiques capital of Florida,"
but it is also noted for its festivals.
Beaches
Florida is the home of beautiful tropical beaches, including the
#1 Beach in America - St. Joe Peninsula State Park.
From Orlando you can either go East to the Atlantic
Coast, or West to the Gulf of Mexico Coast - either one is within
a 2 hour drive.
Where you go depends on your preferences: the east
coast has KSC (Kennedy Space Center), Daytona Beach with it's raceway
and St. Augustine, which is North America's oldest city. The West
Coast offers Busch Gardens, Clearwater Beach, Sanibel Island and
amazingly uncrowded white sandy beaches.
Golf
Florida has been described as a long fairway surrounded by sand
and water. With more than 1,000 courses in the state, Florida disproves
the old saying that "the grass is always greener in the other
fellow's yard." Florida's greens stack up with anyone's.
The state is blessed with some
of the top-rated courses in the country, along with resorts that
are renowned the world over. Golf is such a central part of the
Florida lifestyle that it's sometimes easy to forget just how many
good places there are to pursue the royal and ancient game here.
The PGA Tour comes calling every spring, and it's possible to duplicate
the professionals' swing through the state, staying and playing
at the likes of Miami's Doral Golf Resort & Spa, Orlando's Bay
Hill Lodge or the Tournament Players Club at Sawgrass. The LPGA
and the Senior Tour also play multiple events in the Sunshine State,
from Palm Beach to Naples to Tampa.
